On March 11, Yancey and I traveled to the Santa Cruz Olive Nursery to pick a few replacement trees for the orchard. They were of the Tanche and Bouteillan varieties as they are our best producers and the hardiest trees in our climate.
Yesterday we planted them into pots where they will grow for a year before we orchard-plant them. By doing this transplant, the trees have time to acclimate to our seasons … far different from the Santa Cruz area!
